Make your own patchwork quilt!

• Sunday 6th April 2025

• This will be a quilt measuring around 120×120cm (we can be slightly flexible with sizing but around this size) - this size would work very well as a wall hanging, a children’s bed half quilt, a play mat for a child, a quilt to hang over the back of a sofa, a picnic quilt etc etc

• Some previous sewing experience is necessary, it isn’t suitable for complete beginners. I will be offering some more workshops suitable for beginners in the future but some experience on a sewing machine is necessary here. If you are unsure as to whether this class would be suitable for you, please get in touch first, studio@bugclothing.co.uk

• This is an 8 hour workshop, from 9am - 5pm with a one hour break for lunch

• Workshop location will be at my studio in Ladywell, South London (5 minutes walk from Ladywell station, 30 minute walk from Brockley station, 14 minute walk from Lewisham station OR there is parking available nearby which I think is free on weekends)

• Light refreshments such as tea and coffee and fruit will be provided. Bring your own lunch or you can visit Ladywell village to grab something which is only a short walk away

  Outline of the day

• 9-10am: selecting materials/offcuts and colour palettes, chatting about design

• 10-10.30am: preparing all of our tools and notions and setting up the machines

• 10.30am - 12.30pm: sewing patchwork pieces together

• 12.30 - 1pm: putting the layers of patchwork, cotton batting and bottom layer together

• 1-2pm: lunch

• 2-3.30pm: hand stitching the layers together

• 3.30-5pm: binding edges and finish!
